SUMMONER'S TALES...

"Sometimes I don't finish a song because the message isn't clear. I once wrote a song in which a transsexual prostitute suddenly appeared as the main character. That was as far removed from my own experience as you can imagine. It culminated in the song 'Tomorrow We'll See.' I sing about what it's like to be a transgender male prostitute. It was a beautiful song, and I enjoyed playing that role. It's about seeing the world through another person's eyes, walking in their shoes, perhaps - as in this song - in very high heels. That's my job. To try to feel empathy for everyone. And I can't be prejudiced against what comes to me from my imagination."
